Internet Access/Public Computing

 
The Library provides Internet Access in accordance with the policy listed below.  Library public access computers also have Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, and Powerpoint.)  

There is no charge for use of public access computers; however there are charges for printing (20 ¢ per black & white printed page ; $1.00 per color printed page.)

Internet Access Policy
 

The Library provides Internet access to users who meet the following conditions:

 

Library Users 18 years of age or older must be a registered Library borrower or registered Internet user AND must provide a valid government issued picture identification that includes a birth date (e.g. driver's license, Mississippi Highway Patrol identification card) each time they use the Internet access computers.  When a user does not have the required I.D., determination of age is solely at the discretion of the supervising librarian.

 

Library users under 18 years of age must have a signed permission form on file with the Library.  A parent or legal guardian must accompany the youth and sign the form in the presence of a library staff member.  If a parent or legal guardian desires to have a user under 18 use the Internet at any time as they are not accompanying the user under 18, the parent or legal guardian must provide a valid government issued picture identification (e.g. driver's license, Mississippi Highway Patrol identification card) which will be photocopied and kept on file with the permission form.   A passport sized, recent photograph of the youth will also be required and will be used to create a Youth Internet Access card.  The Youth Internet Access card will be required each time a youth user wishes to access the Internet.

 

The Library has purchased and installed filtering software on each of its Internet Access computers in an attempt to block sexually explicit material or material of a graphic nature.

 

The Library cannot assure the veracity or reliability of any data or material accessed on the Internet.

 

The Library assumes no responsibility for damages caused by programs or files downloaded from the Internet.

 

The Library expressly disclaims any liability or responsibility arising from access to or use of information obtained through the Internet.
